Joseph John Haskins

I hired this lawyer, based on the fact that he was a friend of a friend. I had no prior experience with lawyers and did not know what to do for my case. He dragged on a DUI case for a year,which could have been settled in a few months and it was only concluded because I chose to plead guilty on my ...own accord. His unethical billing practices were very misleading and what seemed to be the final bill for $10,000.00 was followed up 3 months after my conviction for an additional $12,000.00. After consulting others, I learned that a case of my nature, would not have cost me more than $8,000.00 TOPS from a specialist DUI attorney (where I probably would have gotten off) and to be billed $22,000.00 for a case he lost was absolutely insulting and absurd. This resulted in my filing a grievance against him. I would not recommend Joseph Haskins for anything and I would also recommend to anyone seeking legal counsel to consult an expert in the field that pertains to their legal matter and not the "friend of a friend". The only reason I did hire him was because my friend and Mr. Haskins assured me up front that he would handle the matter in a fair way because "most attorneys will rob you". Well, he is most attorneys and I was robbed.
