An attorney who doesn't put his client's best interest first.

Upon meeting with Mr. Johnson, my parent had decided how they wished their inheritance/estate to be divided. Mr. Johnson proceeded to try and convince my parent to NOT leave anything to their children and said he was dead set against parents that do that. He stated that "You worked hard all your li...fe for your money! You gave your children the gift of life! That's enough. I'm tired of kids thinking their parents owe them!" My parent was shocked at his comments and could only infer from them that Mr. Johnson either doesn't have children of his own or doesn't love them much. Furthermore, a relative of mine had to pay an exhorbidant amount of inheritance tax from Johnson's failure to get a licensed appraisal on the house, resulting in her paying on a price derived at by a "real estate buddy" of Johnsons that was way too high for market value. The appraisal was questioned but questions were ignored and my relative was told that "this is what my realtor feels he can sell the house for". When that agent was later contacted, he stated that he thought the estimate was too high! Meanwhile, that was submitted on the inheritance tax papers so it was too late to recoop the overage! The real estate appraisal Johnson sent us from his friend, was dated a date that hadn't even come about yet in one spot on the appraisal and in another it was dated a year before! There were several times Johnson was called about problems that he ignored. His secretary/staff was cold, to put it mildly, on top of everything else, lacking professional conduct and dress. I would not recommend this attorney to anyone.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
