Andrew Seward was known to me since a student and while a lawyer voluntarily helping students. He was most striking to me seeing him evolve as a lawyer. Most striking were my encounters with him as an MD’s lawyer who helped NDs escape a chatter status in fist of hospitals and patients escape institut...ional abuse. My field is not law but obviously I am observing him defend the @little guy” in healthcare, the patient and the physician against institutional bullying to gain exorbitant profit from helpless care needed s and providers by corporate law-thugs. I see him as a legal philosopher, a defender of human dignity and individual freedom and as a moralist on how democracy means providing the vulnerable individual (doctor and patient) all rights due under the law. His moral operative term is DEFEND, and that built my never disappointed reliance on his judicial judgement and motivation. That view was built over decades of personal and professional encounter and I only wish there were more like him who are GOOD lawyers by the same standards that qualify GOOD doctors: THE RIGHTS AND WELLBEING OF THE LITTLE GUY!
