Michael David Head

I focus my practice on serving the legal needs of new and established small to midsize businesses and their owners. I have counseled entrepreneurs in the creation of companies in a wide range of industries.  I also assist with the purchase and sale of businesses (both entity and asset only).    

As outside general counsel, I assist companies with their everyday legal needs including the negotiation, drafting and review of routine and complex business agreements; management of collections and litigation; and handling employment-related matters including drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants as well as the creation and implementation of company policies and procedures. I devote a substantial portion of my practice to working with information technology (IT) companies and am experienced in handling the legal issues and business relationships that are unique to that industry.

I provide my clients seasoned advice and guidance throughout all stages of the business life cycle including shepherding them through unfortunate but sometimes necessary business “divorces” and difficult “end of life” decisions.  I bring a unique perspective to my clients as I have experience both inside and outside of business as I currently serve as in-house general counsel and director of contracts at a national IT/software consulting and staffing company while maintaining my select private practice.   

I am passionate about the local and state-wide entreprenuerial community.  When I am not busy assisting my clients, I can often be found speaking at legal and business seminars, workshops and conferences - offering insight on a variety of topics of interest to business owners and their counsel.
