Greatful for Mr. Chmelewski!

My son and I hired Mr. Mark Chmelewski to assist us with an assault charge. We found him to be very knowledgeable and professional. He responded quickly to our emails and phone calls. His return emails were prompt and detailed which was helpful. We appreciated him explainging step by step the process... that my son would be going through and in following his direction my son's outcome was favorable. We were fortunate to have him as my son's attorney. Thank you!

There are better lawyers in town. Took my money and didn't communicate.

Search elsewhere!! There are so many better lawyers in Ellensburg. I lost $2750 because I entrusted Mark Chmelewski with my case. I had never been convicted of any crime before and I had told him that I would appreciate as much information and communication as possible. He met with me one time before... I had even hired him as a lawyer and never met with me again. He never asked for details of my case or what my side of the story was and as the court date approached and there was no communication I started to panic. After I had sent him $2750 he told me that I was welcome to find a new lawyer if I was was not happy. I asked him for a refund as he had not even met with me to discuss what had actually happened and his meager communication was one email which was one word answers in red on top of my original email, and a couple of phone calls reassuring me that he was taking care of stuff. What could he take care of without knowing what actually happened?! After finding a new (and absolutely spectacular lawyer) I learned that there was film footage that Mark had not even discussed with me. When I told him that my new lawyer had found this evidence he told me that he knew... but it took my lawyer some effort to get a copy and we watched it together. Do not settle for a lawyer that doesn't even take the time to care about what your side of the story is. Your lawyer should want to know what actually happened and not just be trying to take your money. When I asked for the refund he sent me $250. It was such a joke that I never even cashed his check. What kind of person steals $2750 from a veteran and college student who is trying to make sure that they can still do amazing things with their life. If you mess up (or are suspected of messing up) the legal system is stressful enough without Mark Chmelewski. There are much better lawyers in town. Don't throw your money away.

Minor DUI

I hired Marc in May for a minor DUI and I couldn't have made a better decision! At the first meeting, Mark was very willing to listen to what I had to say along with any questions I had concerning what was going to happen in my case as well as being straight forward in a polite and respectful way. Ma...rk was there every step of the way through the initial court date through the final plea bargain and I really appreciated everything he's done for me as he got my DUI down to reckless driving in the second degree which is a huge and amazing deal. I'm forever greatful of Mr. Chmelewski and all he did for me in my case as it brought life changing results. In addition to being professional, Mark is also a good person who will make conversation with you regarding things other than the case after your meeting concludes if you wish to engage in conversation. If you have any hesitations regarding hiring Mr. Chmelewski, put those aside because he is the right man for the job!

A true advocate, in every way

Mark was absolutely wonderful to me, explaining things in depth and sensitive to the stressful situation that I had put myself in. He has a comprehensive understanding of the justice system and knows how to navigate what I came to experience as a system of Byzantine complexity. He does not sugarcoa...t or set you up for false expectations in any way, and I would strongly recommend anyone who hires him to follow his instructions to the letter, as that will make a huge difference in the outcome of your case. No one wants to be in a situation where they are hiring a lawyer for a criminal offense, but you couldn't ask for a more professional, caring, and knowledgable individual to be on your side. And if you find yourself needing fantastic representation, you simply can't do better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Most unprofessional lawyer I've ever dealt with

Fact: My speeding ticket case was lost, and I'm still having to pay a fine. Never sent me any paperwork to sign, just said to send him a check for his fee's and copy of ticket. (I have never had a lawyer do this, should have been my first clue.) In my opinion this is the most unprofessional lawyer ...I've ever dealt with. I was upset with the verdict and called him today, not expecting to get anyone but to leave a voicemail for a call back, he answered. Yes I was upset, yes I could have probably handled it better, but he was also aggressive and did nothing to deescalate it. I told him fine enjoy your AVVO rating, he responded with is that a threat? I said no, it's a fact, I'm going to rate you. Then he comes back with "Does the baby want his money back?" I said sure, then he goes off into a diatribe about criminal blackmail. At no point did I threaten him with the rating in lieu of a refund. In fact I wasn't expecting one. But if someone asks me if I want a refund, I'm going to say yes, he still would have been rated. I'll be asking for transcripts or video of the court proceedings, along with now filing a bar complaint for his ludicrous behavior, and depending on what I see in transcripts or video I'll weigh my next options.

"I endorse this lawyer. I recently had the opportunity to sit in on one of Mark's trials. I reserved enough time to see PTC, jury selection and the entire trial through verdict. I could go on about the details, but the most important things are that he had this jury before selection was finished, he was prepared for anything so I can tell that he worked very hard on this case before getting here. He knew all the facts and all relevant laws. He stood up and fought for his client. But most importantly, he appeared to have a great time doing it. I highly recommend Mark and his team."
