Margarita Sostrin

 Rita Sostrin is a founding partner of Sostrin Immigration Lawyers, LLP.  Prior to launching Sostrin Immigration Lawyers, LLP, she acquired over 15 years of immigration law experience working at top immigration law firms and serving in various leadership positions on behalf of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).  Ms. Sostrin has become known as one of the leading experts in immigration law matters for individuals of extraordinary abilities as well as international physicians and researchers.  She frequently receives invitations to speak at national and regional conferences and to write for legal publications.  Having established an impressive record of winning complex cases in these areas of legal practice, Ms. Sostrin is routinely approached by the academic and medical communities to engage her legal representation and counsel.

Throughout her professional career, Ms. Sostrin has represented a diverse array of clients across the United States and abroad, handling all aspects of employment-based immigration for leading academic institutions, hospitals, and scientific laboratories.  While her focus has centered on visas for the immigration of individuals with extraordinary abilities and international medical graduates and researchers, she has also dealt extensively with foreign nationals in other industries, including pharmaceuticals, design, entertainment, and manufacturing.  With increasingly greater restrictions on immigration policies, Ms. Sostrin’s experience in managing intricate cases is more invaluable than ever.  Consequently, in addition to assisting her own clients, Ms. Sostrin’s counsel is frequently sought by fellow colleagues within the legal community.

Ms. Sostrin is included in The International Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration Lawyers and Chambers USA, publications that list top attorneys based on extensive peer review.  Ms. Sostrin was also honored by AILA’s Presidential Award for her outstanding service in 2008.  She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of AILA’s Healthcare Professionals/Physicians Committee and is also a member of AILA’s Board of Publications and a Senior Editor of the Immigration & Nationality Law Handbook.  In addition, she has authored numerous articles on immigration issues and served as an editor for several definitive books and publications. 

Ms. Sostrin earned a B.A. in international relations from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota and a J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Ms. Sostrin is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court and the Supreme Court of Minnesota.  She practices exclusively in federal immigration law.
