Margaret Ann Smith

I hired Ms. Smith to get rights to my son. She got court orders for me to start seeing my son and did not back down to my ex's lawyer. She explained things to me I did not know about child support and has really helped me. She let me make payments using my credit card and I felt the amount she charg...ed was fair.

Go with the first two ratings. I had the same experiences with this one. No communication, charges for incorrect work and overcharged for services that actually were performed (eventually). She is what gives attorney's bad names. I highly do not recommend her. I eventually retained another attorne...y as did one of the first reviewers. If you want no communication, mistakes and extreme charges...go with Smith. She said there were payment plans in the initial consult but I was never offered any of these plans., just the threat of the 18% late fee. She was highly unprofessional and beware she talks the talk on the initial consult.

I did not have the same experience as the other reviewers. In fact, it was quite the opposite. Ms. Smith returned calls and offered suggestions for my case. She is very knowledgeable and I would definitely hire her again. As for the billing, that's what happens when you have to hire a lawyer. She pro...vides detailed billing, so I was comfortable with it. Her prices are competitive and she offers payment plans.

The previous client who wrote the review took the WORDS RIGHT OUT OF MY MOUTH! She talked a big talk, billed an extremely big amount - but did nothing else for me, honestly. Like previous client, she suggested that we try a few different things that did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for my case. Before withdraw...ing from being my lawyer, I had offered a few different monthly payment plans but she absolutely refused. So, instead, she filed papers to withdraw from being my lawyer then added the $995.00 bill to my invoice, plus the 18% monthly interest she charges. Even though I was hesitant about some of the things she was suggesting, I put my trust and faith in her. The anger and attack I felt from this woman seemed extremely personal, not professional one bit. I guarantee she's going to charge you a fortune - and she will haunt your dreams until every last single penny of her $ is collected.
