Fast Talker

On July 14, 2014 I had an appt. with Mr. Dixon to discuss monies loaned and not paid back. Upon meeting with him and giving him the information necessary; he said that he will send a letter and in most cases that will take care of it. Towards the end of our meeting I had asked “how much will all of t...his cost?” he thought for a minute and then stated that he gets paid by the hour and it is at a rate of $285/hr. He then proceeded to say the letter should take about half an hour and told me $175. I had assumed that included the letter, being I was with him barely 10 minutes discussing it all. At no time did he say the $175 was just the consultation. Of course to my surprise I get a bill of $149.94 for writing the letter in addition to the $175. So now we are up to $324.94. Being his rate is $285/hr. I’m beginning to believe I’m getting over charged. The letter was sent out. He had stated in the letter that the person had 10 days to respond. Waiting until July 30; I had called him to find out if he had heard anything. I was told he was on vacation. So I call again the first week of august to be put on hold for a bit; then your assistant gets back on to say you will call me back. You call back and I ask if you had heard anything. You simply say “no”. I then ask what’s next. At that point he proceeds to say that it means we would have to go to court and your retainer is $2500. Of course hearing that threw me off, being Mr Dixon had never mentioned before how much a retainer would be. Then to my surprise I get billed another $28.50 for the “telephone conference with client" which just consisted of Mr. Dixon telling me he hadn't heard anything. If you don't mind being charged for EVERYTHING and enjoy the fast talk and misconception of what you're being charged....he's your man. The best part is now he has sent me to collections for the amount he fooled me on....INCLUDING the ridiculous $28.50 phone call.

Client was billed exactly what she was told and advised at initial consult the cost of having to file suit, if necessary.

Unethical

Hired Attorney Dixon to assist my elderly mother with a property dispute - her ex had locked her out while she was on vacation and absconded with all of her possessions and despite that she co-owned the property. She was never granted return payment for her share of the property, nor access to her be...longings - some priceless heirlooms from Germany. Attorney Dixon allowed the slow progression of this case, ever billing my aging mother, who suffered a stroke and resided in another state, to fall by the wayside until the defendant's death. He allowed the case to progress to probate without stepping up on my mother's behalf, communicating as requested with me, until the case was closed and my other received nothing. There was no information nor copies of communication with opposing counsel, no copies of motions, only excessive billing and repeated threats for payment, All told an estimated $10K was paid toAattorney Dixon and nothing was done. He never even communicated to us that the case was closed until we called - precipitating yet another and final invoice. DO NOT HIRE

Deed Transfers

Hired this Attorney to draft two Quick Claim Deeds, Legal Descriptions were not correct and No Power of Attorney was recorded with the County. This resulted in no recorded deeds with the County. Called Attorneys office three times to get resolved and he finally stated "it was not his fault"! Next Cus...tomer Beware!!! I should have read these reviews before I hired him.
