Justin D Rieger

I am an experienced corporate (in-house) counsel with a broad range of experience in all matters related to the conducting of small to multi-billion dollar businesses including negotiating and drafting agreements with celebrities/influencers and large-scale event operators with regard to marketing and sponsorship opportunities in the eSports industry. I enjoy leveraging my litigation and business background to adequately assess and efficient and effectively protect my clients against financial and legal risk.

Prior to transitioning in-house, I worked as a solo practitioner assisting my own clients and working with other attorneys and firms on a myriad of general business and corporate matters which involved preparing drafts of business documents such as website ToS and privacy policies, buy-sell agreements, promissory notes, licensing agreements, purchase/sale agreements, APAs, and corporate formation/maintenance documents.

I have also worked as a litigator at Robbins Arroyo LLP, concentrating my practice primarily on representing individual and institutional investors in complex securities class actions arising out of corporate mergers and acquisitions, and with another San Diego based law firm representing clients on a variety of complex business, insurance, and construction-related litigation matters.  During this time I also earned a Master of Laws degree in Taxation from the University of San Diego School of Law.

I moved to San Diego to work for Latham & Watkins LLP after obtaining my Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law and passing the February 2008 California Bar.  At Latham & Watkins I helped represent various public company clients with the preparation of various SEC filings, employee stock plans, and merger-related proxy statements.

I grew up in Michigan and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University where I graduated with honors and played on the varsity football team.
