Unfortunately, due to some lingering health issues, I have been forced into premature retirement. I had brain surgery on June 14, 2024, and it now appears that I will have to end my 38 year career of assisting consumers protect their rights going forward into the future. Please understand that Bankruptcy is a complex area of the law. Follow up review; very disappointing

Replied last December 22, 2014I am a seasoned Bankruptcy Attorney with 28 years experience. I am well aware of whom this potential client is, and I wish him and his wife the best of luck in addressing their financial circumstances. Unfortunately, this situation clearly reflects that you can not please all of the people all of the time, and you can not please some of the people any of the time. Originally when this person met with me, they indicated they owed approximately $10K in unsecured debt. After a year of coddling the potential client, when we investigated the credit report, it was determined that there was actually $115K in unsecured debt. An Attorney can not redraft the Bankruptcy Code, but must abide by the terms of the federal law based on the actual determined facts rather than those that are initially reported by a person. It is interesting to me that the person spends a significant amount of time complaining that I refunded the entire amount of the retainer to him (unlike the other firm), despite spending substantial amounts of time explaining the legal process and reasoning for the calculations in the Bankruptcy Statements and Schedules. Nonetheless, I truly hope that he and his wife find a legal professional that they feel comfortable dealing with.
