On New Year's Eve I made the mistake of deciding to drive home from a friend's house after having a few glasses of wine and a glass of champagne. Shortly after midnight I was pulled over, failed the breathalyzer, and was arrested for OUI. I had no prior offenses and a clean driving record. At firs...t I didn't realize the gravity of the situation, but it didn't take long for me to realize the amount of trouble I was in. I won't go into the gory details of what it was like spending the night in a cold jail cell, but I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I left the police station with papers stating I was to be in court for my arraignment the following Monday morning . I was unfamiliar with the legal system and was at a complete loss as to who to call or what to do. Losing my license would have a devastating effect on my life, as I am a single mom of a teenage athlete and have a full time professional job. After much research, it was clear to me that I needed a lawyer. I found Jonathan via Google and called his office the Sunday night before my arraignment. Jonathan called me back inside two hours. We discussed my situation and talked about realistic options. We probably could have fought the OUI, but that would have taken months. My interest was to put it behind me and get my license back as soon as possible. After laying out my options we decided to plea continuance without a finding. Even with such a short notice, Jonathan agreed to meet me in court for my arraignment the following morning. I arrived at the courthouse nervous, scared, and hadn't slept in three days. When Jonathan introduced himself in person, I was instantly relieved. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. He calmly went through all of my options again. He was truthful and careful to not give me any false expectations. He patiently negotiated my plea with the court and stood by me, speaking on my behalf, while we went in front of the judge. After all was said and done, the court agreed to the continuance without a finding plea, and the judge also stated that he felt it was the most intelligent choice I could've made. From the moment we first spoke on the phone, through the arraignment, and the RMV hearing to get my hardship license, Jonathan guided me through the complete process with integrity and respect. I honestly don't know where I would be now, had he not been there for me throughout this entire ordeal. I now have my hardship license and will get my permanent license back in the next few days. Because of the way we plead, this will drop off my criminal record one year from the date of the arraignment and I will not have to worry about it showing up on criminal background checks, etc. I would highly recommend Jonathan to anyone looking for knowledgeable and responsive attorney.
