Biography
John V. Bell is the J&Y Law Firm's senior trial lawyer and a fierce advocate for the victims of negligence. John received his law degree from St. John’s University School of Law in New York and is admitted to practice in both New York and California.
While a partner back East in upstate New York, John built a successful medical negligence and serious injury practice. Among his achievements are the record judgment of $5,400,000 against the State of New York for an inmate injury in Barrett v. State and winning a case of nationwide first impression in New York’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, in LaBello v. Albany Medical Center.
John has over 33 years of trial experience and has settled or won 20 cases exceeding $1,000,000, including a product defect case that was resolved for more than $12,000,000. He has always fought hard to protect and advance the interests of his clients, and he eagerly looks forward to battling the mega-rich insurance companies who attempt to minimize client injuries.
Over the years, John has served as a director and member in several trial lawyers associations and as a moot court judge in both New York and California. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, long walks with his wife Lucia and guiding his three adult kids into successful careers.
