When I got myself into trouble, I thought for sure I had found the right law firm to represent me. Perhaps that was the case, but Attorney Flynn was the wrong lawyer for my case. Throughout the whole process, she was extremely incompassionate and condescending. Rather than fight for me, she basically... walked me through it all and told me that I had to more or less accept the consequences of my actions. I could have done that much without wasting $5,500. After further reviewing my case and looking over Wisconsin laws, I am led to believe that there was certainly more she could have done to help me. To be fair, having an otherwise legal concealed carry weapon within reach at the time of my OWI was somewhat out of her range of expertise. However, many law firms have won similar cases and gotten charges dropped. Instead, I will forever carry a record of “Operate a Firearm While Intoxicated”, which sounds like I was recklessly shooting it rather than politely cooperating with the police officers in light of their safety. Additionally, I was jailed with people who got substantially less time for similar crimes who were represented by a public defender. During a 30-day period of being required to wear a SCRAM device, there was an alcohol detection that was called a confirmed consumption, despite not drinking during this time. I had to go in front of the judge, pay another $400 and wear it for 30 days. She told me to “suck it up, buttercup” and asked if I’d rather go to jail instead. That was hard to hear, given that I was paying her to help me and knew I had not done any wrong. She told me I would get my gun back, which didn’t actually happen. She told me I could get an occupational license after a year, which isn’t the case. I was given so much false hope and no real help. If all she was going to do was guide me through the inevitable, it would have been nice if the facts were accurate at least. All told, I had a horrible experience and don’t feel like I got much for my money at all. I know that she is no longer with the firm that represented me, so I’m wondering if she bagged the case altogether, knowing she would be moving on. after sentencing she quickly washed her hands of my case, and I’ve been left to deal with the aftermath. I was suspended from my job for half a year, and while I’m doing my best to control what I can control, my life will never be the same.
