Jeffrey Marc Cooper

For as far back as I can remember I have enjoyed the challenge of competition. My father taught me at a young age there is no substitute for hard work and no shortcuts to winning. As I have grown older, I have realized the truth in what he showed me, not only in the sports I played growing up, but in my approach to the practice of law. I feel fortunate to work in a profession that is competitive by nature, and appreciate the level of competition I have received from some of the most talented defense lawyers in the state. I have spent my 20 year career as a lawyer representing people who have been injured in accidents and by medical malpractice. My first jury trial as a young lawyer resulted in a verdict for my client that was more than 10 times what the insurance company offered before trial. That experience showed me the true greatness of the jury system, which works to even the playing field between big business and ordinary people. Over the years, I have resolved difficult and often times undervalued cases including verdicts of $330,000, $250,000, $175,000 and $98,000 for clients who were offered no settlements, and several bigger verdicts including $4.2 million dollars in a no-pay medical malpractice case, and $2.8 million dollars in a contested motorcycle accident case. Like many lawyers, I am proud of my past accomplishments but understand that each has come at a hefty price for my injured client. Past results are in the past, and have nothing to do with how I can help someone in the future. Success as a trial lawyer should not measured by amounts of dollars recovered. More importantly, it is our job to make sure that each person who is injured and suffering harm receives the compensation they deserve and the the effort it takes to get them there. I strive to continually improve as a trial lawyer and positive contributor to my community and want to provide my clients with the highest quality representation I am capable of.
