Biography
Mr. Kopec grew up in Wheaton and graduated from Loyola Law School in Chicago. Mr. Kopec currently lives with his family in Aurora.
After law school, Mr. Kopec joined the Cook County State's Attorneys Office in Chicago and for more than seven years prosecuted hundreds of criminal cases. As an assistant state's attorney he prosecuted DUI's, narcotics, sex crimes, and other violent crimes. Additionally, Mr. Kopec successfully argued before the Illinois Appellate Court on numerous occasions while with the State's Attorney's Office.
Mr. Kopec focuses his practice on criminal defense. He represents clients charged with a wide array of criminal offenses including DUI's, driving on a suspended license, narcotics offenses, sex crimes, white collar crime, and other violent crimes. Drawing on his vast experience as a criminal prosecutor, Mr. Kopec aggressively works on behalf of his clients both in and out of the courtroom.
In addition to his practice in Illinois State Courts, Mr. Kopec is admitted to practice before the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, including the Trial Bar and the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
