About me

Geoffrey S. Weed is a magna cum laude graduate of Thomas M. Cooley law school. During his time at Cooley, Geoff won ten "book awards" (given to the student with the top grade in the class), the Raymond Burr Award for Excellence in Criminal Law, the Earl Dayton Award for Dedicated Service to the Grade Appeals Board, and the 2011 Auburn Hills Evidence Mock Trial Competition. He also acted as a teaching assistant, served on the Board of Editors of the Law Review, and was an associate editor of the Law Journal.

While attending law school, Geoff interned at the Michigan Supreme Court for former Chief Justice Maura D. Corrigan, later Director of the Michigan Department of Human Services.

After graduating, Geoff practiced in Grosse Pointe Woods, primarily in the areas of estate planning and probate administration/litigation. After several years, Geoff left private practice for a position as a staff attorney at the Michigan Court of Appeals, where he is currently employed.

Geoff has published several scholarly articles, including two articles with the Michigan Bar Journal and one with the Washington and Lee Journal of Civil Rights and Social Justice. He is also an active contributor for Michigan's Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE).

Geoff is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of Michigan, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has argued cases before the Sixth Circuit twice.
