Erik Fern represents people who have found themselves in situations that can feel overwhelming, using his experience to help navigate them to a solution. He believes that sound preparedness, careful thought, and diligence are the most important assets to being successful not only in the legal field, but also life in general. Erik has served as the Attorney Coach for the Luther College Mock Trial from 2012 to 2014, and is a past treasurer, vice president, and president of the Winneshiek County Bar Association. As an attorney, Erik devotes his time and effort to understanding his clients as individuals so he can guide them to the best possible outcome.
Prior to working at Berry Law Firm, Mr. Fern worked as a partner at a law firm in Iowa where he gained experience in personal injury claims, civil rights, general civil litigation, and appeals. Erik also has international law knowledge from his participation in an intensive course on dispute resolution at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. Erik earned his law degree in 2006 and is licensed to practice law in the state of Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, and the U.S. 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
When he is not working hard to help his clients, Erik is an avid fisherman, hunter, and mountain biker. He loves the outdoors and takes any opportunity he can to enjoy a fall day with his wife and Dog. Erik and his wife both attend Christ Place church and hope to develop deep roots in Lincoln.

Barrett Gipp, Litigation Attorney on Feb 25, 2019
Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community
I had the opportunity to work with and against Mr. Fern when he worked in Northeast Iowa. He is an excellent attorney who genuinely cares about his clients and their cases. He is talented, well prepared and provides effective. zealous advocacy.
Patrick Ritter, Litigation Attorney on Dec 7, 2018
Relationship: Opposing Counsel on matter
Erik and I opposed each other on many cases when he lived in Northeast Iowa. Erik is remarkably responsive in communication. He fights for his clients, but he is professional and reasonable in the courtroom environment. Above all, he is a diligent and well-prepared attorney. I would have absolutely no reservations about recommending Attorney Fern to represent a friend or relative of mine.
