Derek J. Barber

Attorney Derek Barber is a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He received a Bachelor of Science in Political Science with a minor in Environmental Politics and Policy from the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. Attorney Barber then went on to receive his Juris Doctor degree upon graduation from the University of Nebraska College of Law. During his time at the Big10 law school, Attorney Barber took full advantage of the opportunities the school provided. In his third year, Attorney Barber was granted Senior Certified Law Student status which allowed him to work with clients in the small business and entrepreneurship law fields. During that time, Attorney Barber helped local Lincoln businesses with LLC formation, public benefit corporation formation, filing trademarks, protecting copyrights, and drafting employment contracts. Attorney Barber has taken that practical experience and teaches a course on business law for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay as an associate lecturer.

Attorney Barber's legal background does not begin and end with entrepreneurship law. As a practicing attorney in Northeast Wisconsin, Attorney Barber has gained extensive knowledge of family law matters such as divorce proceedings, custody and placement disputes, child support and maintenance disputes, and Guardian ad Litem representation. As a law clerk for Brown County, Attorney Barber worked closely with judges and attorneys alike in family, criminal, estate planning, small business, and property law matters. From all of this practical real world experience, he understands that educating his clients is the best tool in helping them through what are possibly the most stressful situations they have ever been in. He is dedicated to tailoring his law practice to make those difficult times easier for all parties involved.
