     I became a lawyer in my mid forties.  Before that, I had a very adventurous life.  I was a university assistant professor of literature at the University of Hartford and at Sacramento State College (I have a MA in English from UC Berkeley) and worked many "non-professional" jobs including gardening, landscaping, farming, house moving, clam digging (my favorite), cook, and as a florist.  For 16 years, while I practiced family law, I was also an elected member of the Board of Directors of the San Lorenzo Valley Water District where I became particularly interested in the environmental and political issues of water.  I was the President of the Board of a local recovery center, Janus, and know a lot about alcoholism and other addictions.  I served as the craft coordinator of the Redwood Mountain Faire and collect art.    My current professional interest is to start this new form of law practice, to support people who represent themselves in their own family law cases.  There is a huge upsurge in the number of people who are do it yourself divorce and family law participants.  In some California counties as many as 80% of the cases filed have at least one person who is there without a lawyer.  These people often don't need to spend thousands to hire an attorney, but could use some input.  My web site, , is a portal through which they can set a phone consultation to get that help.
