Elder Law 70%

As an elder law attorney my greatest role is assisting families to finance the cost of long term care while protecting and preserving assets. Every family has unique needs. By opening the avenues to benefits, including Medicaid and Veteran's benefits, and reserving and protecting assets, families can provide the highest possible quality of life to a loved one in need of long term care.

Estate Planning 20%

As an estate planning attorney I listen to individuals and couples to learn and help them determine the best way to accomplish wealth and asset transfers after death. Once decided the documents are drafted and then executed, putting in place a comprehensive estate plan for protection during life and beyond. Wills, living trusts, financial powers of attorney, healthcare powers of attorney, living wills, and much more are all a part of each families plan.

Probate 5%

I assist families through the probate process, including the opening and closings of estates, the establishment of trusts, preparation of court documents and accountings, and ultimately the delivery of assets to the beneficiaries. I am also a resource for those left behind during the difficult time following death, helping them to begin healing and move forward emotionally and financially.

Tax 5%

Taxes are a consideration in both elder law and estate planning. With each client I assist, I must evaluate the tax benefits and consequences for income and/or estate taxes. I utilize my many years of public accounting and IRS experience, as well as stay current with the tax laws, to guide my clients as needed, and to refer to skilled professionals for tax preparation when necessary.

She really helped my aunt

In late 2007 my aunt fell breaking her hip. At the time, she wanted to return home if at all possible, but there was sincere disagreement within the family whether or not that was the "best" move for her. Some were insistent that she be placed in a nursing home permanently whether or not she liked ...it. Beverly was recommended to me by a friend. Beverly came to the rehab facility, interviewed my aunt, and ultimately helped her with the legal documents necessary to carry out her wishes for her life and after her death. Today my aunt is 93 and continuing to enjoy her home. I credit Beverly for a big part of making that possible. Throughout the process, she was kind and courteous. Her knowledge of elder law, tax issues, estate planning, and the various options was truly helpful to my aunt at her time of great need. Beyond that, Beverly was compassionate and caring. She helped me wade through the morass of our medical care system. Her suggestions helped me find a physician who specialized in geriatric care. That doctor's care and attention has helped my aunt's condition improve and is a big part of the reason she is able to continue to remain at home today. I was very impressed by Beverly's work four years ago and would highly recommend her to anyone with eldercare and estate planning issues.
