Andrew G. Thorley was awarded his J.D. from The University of Houston Law Center, and his work has been focused on immigration issues for almost 15 years. While he has broad experience with most areas of U.S. immigration law, Mr. Thorley now focuses primarily on employment-based immigration strategies that include nonimmigrant visa acquisition, permanent residence, and related compliance issues.
Mr. Thorley is experienced in preparing outstanding professor/researcher filings for many organizations, as well as managing successful PERM Labor Certification campaigns and assisting employers with other immigration challenges facing international workforces. He previously worked in-house at The University of Texas of Austin handling immigration issues on campus and within the University of Texas System for almost 8 years after moving from private immigration practice.
A prior member of the American Immigration Lawyers' Association Students and Schools Committee, Mr. Thorley's experience with SEVIS as a Registered Officer ("RO") gives him unique insights into issues faced by J-1 exchange visitors and F-1 students, in addition to first-hand knowledge of many policy and procedural matters faced at universities.
While in Law School he worked as a student attorney in the University of Houston Immigration Clinic under the guidance of Joseph A. Vail after studying Mexican Law and NAFTA at the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City in 1999.
A member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Immigration Lawyers Association, Mr. Thorley has given numerous presentations on immigration law to varied audiences on U.S. and global immigration issues, including training for NAFSA, the Association of International Educators.
