Child Custody 20%

This issue is pervasive in family law. I regularly help parents want to modify a current custody agreement due to a change in circumstances, as well as those who are ending their relationship and need to determine how best to co-parent.

Divorce and Separation 20%

No matter how common this has become, every client has an experience that carries its own history, emotion, and sense of loss attached to it. No divorce is easy, but knowing what to expect and how to get through it can certainly minimize the stress.

Litigation 20%

I have extensive litigation experience, with both bench trials and jury trials. I spent much of the early part of my career in the courtroom everyday. I love every aspect of trial preparation, strategy, and presentation.

Child Support 15%

All children who do not live with both of their parents are entitled to support. While support can be easily calculated, factors used to determine income attributable to a parent can be more complicated than what's reflected on a pay-stub.

Domestic Violence 10%

I have experience assisting victims of violence with receiving protection from the courts and law enforcement, as well as defending those who are wrongfully accused by someone looking to gain leverage in their divorce or custody action.

Any time one spouse has been financially dependent on the other during the course of the marriage, there is the possibility they may be entitled to support after the marriage.

Marriage and Prenuptials 5%

While no one gets married thinking their marriage won't last, there's certainly nothing wrong with expecting the best, and being prepared for the worst. Prenuptial agreements and other marital agreements can alleviate unexpected circumstances.

Mediation is a way that parties are empowered to work through their own issues related to custody and property division in order to find solutions that are most appropriate for them and their children.

One of the most rewarding types of cases in a family law practice is legitimizing a family and sharing in the joy of a child finding a forever home.

Child custody and distribution of properties

Not trustworthy. She left the firm half way after retaining me. She shouldn’t have taken me if she knew she was leave the firm. I’m spending my money. Money doesn’t grow on trees. She takes up cases more than she can handle. Not prompt in her dealings and replies. Always late. She is ready to answe...r you on weekends coz she has higher rates on weekends. I do not recommend her her to anyone. Sorry, it’s my opinion. After spending my time, money and my emotions, I got nothing from her.

Outcome was nothing short of miraculous!

Andrea Godwin represented me in an especially important custody case as it pertained directly to my child's personal safety. Opposing counsel was very stubborn, but Ms. Godwin was passionate and relentless, and she managed to achieve an outcome even better than I dared to hope for. I am so apprecia...tive because, not only did I have an attorney with skill and knowledge, but I had one with heart. It's a different experience when you feel like your attorney truly cares rather than simply doing the job they were hired to do. She was a great source of emotional support as we navigated some legally convoluted waters. When all was said and done, I felt like she cared as much about keeping my child safe as I did, and that level of caring came through during the course of all the hard work she put in to help us achieve the best possible outcome. I absolutely would use her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a lawyer who can get the job done!
