also known as Johnson Law, PC, Doug Johnson
Douglas G. Johnson | Experienced Alaska Personal Injury Attorney
For more than 30 years, Douglas G. Johnson has dedicated his legal career to helping injured Alaskans, injured visitors, and families who have lost loved ones because of another person's negligence. Based in Anchorage, Johnson represents clients throughout Alaska in serious personal injury, wrongful death, and insurance coverage disputes arising on Alaska's roads, waterways, airways, oil fields, construction sites, and remote communities.
At Johnson Law, P.C., Doug focuses exclusively on personal injury, wrongful death, maritime injury, aviation accident, and insurance coverage litigation. He has spent decades standing up to insurance companies, major corporations, manufacturers, and government entities on behalf of people facing life-changing injuries and devastating losses.
An Attorney Who Understands Alaska
Doug's background is one of the reasons clients across Alaska trust him with their most important cases.
Raised on a small farm in eastern Oregon, he learned the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and integrity at an early age. Before becoming an attorney, he worked in farming, logging, construction, and heavy equipment operations—industries where safety matters and where a single mistake can change a life forever.
Those experiences allow him to better understand the realities faced by commercial fishermen, construction workers, oil field employees, truck drivers, equipment operators, and others who perform physically demanding work throughout Alaska. They also provide valuable insight when investigating workplace accidents, equipment failures, and catastrophic injury claims.
Fighting for People, Not Powerful Interests
Doug did not become a lawyer because it was always his dream. He chose the profession after witnessing how easily individuals can be overwhelmed by powerful organizations.
While serving as a volunteer missionary in South America, he saw families struggle against large corporations and government entities with little ability to protect their own rights. Later, living and working in western Alaska reinforced that lesson. He witnessed firsthand the unique challenges faced by both rural Alaskans and those living on the road system when confronting large insurance companies or corporations after a serious accident.
Those experiences shaped the mission of his legal practice: helping ordinary people obtain justice when they are injured through the negligence or reckless conduct of others.
Built Through Real Litigation Experience
Doug earned his undergraduate degree from Oregon State University before graduating from Willamette University College of Law. Before finishing law school, he joined one of Alaska's premier litigation firms, where he immediately began handling complex, high-stakes cases.
As one of only a few attorneys in the firm, he quickly found himself litigating against some of Alaska's largest corporations, insurance carriers, manufacturers, and state agencies. Those early courtroom battles established the foundation for a career devoted exclusively to representing injured people—not insurance companies.
Over the past three decades, Doug has represented clients in cases involving:
Serious motor vehicle accidents
Commercial trucking crashes
Aviation and bush plane accidents
Commercial fishing and maritime injuries
Oil field and industrial accidents
Construction site injuries
Defective products and equipment failures
Insurance coverage disputes
Wrongful death claims
Serving Clients Across Alaska
Whether an injury occurs in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Juneau, the Mat-Su Valley, the Kenai Peninsula, Southeast Alaska, the Interior, the North Slope, or an off-road-system community, Doug understands the unique legal, logistical, and medical challenges that often accompany Alaska injury cases.
He has represented clients from communities across the state and understands that serious accidents in Alaska frequently involve remote locations, aviation transportation, maritime operations, severe weather, and delayed emergency response.
Visitors injured while vacationing in Alaska—including cruise passengers, tourists, hunters, anglers, hikers, and business travelers—also benefit from working with an attorney who understands Alaska law, Alaska courts, and Alaska's unique industries.
Compassionate Representation When It Matters Most
Doug believes every client deserves honest advice, personal attention, and an attorney willing to fight for the best possible outcome.
His experience performing physically demanding work before becoming a lawyer gives him a practical understanding of how catastrophic injuries affect a person's ability to work, provide for a family, and enjoy life. His years serving others have also shaped a deep compassion for individuals facing serious injuries or grieving the loss of a loved one.
Doug is also fluent in Spanish, allowing him to effectively communicate with many Spanish-speaking clients and families throughout Alaska.
When people are facing one of the most difficult moments of their lives, they deserve an attorney with the experience, determination, and commitment to stand beside them from beginning to end.
