Both Sides of the Coin

Relating to review from "anonymous": Suffice it to say Donald Craig Mitchell does not suffer fools gladly. His "razor sharp wit and acerbic commentary (is) coupled with pithy, erudite and (thought) provoking insights." (Oxford Dictionary) Some might consider this rude but others consider this refr...eshing and intellectually stimulating. I was a resident of Alaska for many years; on several occasions, Mr. Mitchell has argued cases before the U. S. Supreme Court. He has written several books relating to the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. He is well-respected by his peers. ______________________ Regarding Consulted vs Hired. In my case I was a citizen of the State of Alaska; on those occasions when he was paid with state money, he was being paid with my tax dollars, to represent me. So I suppose "hired" would be technically correct.

VERY Unprofessional

I had only to talk with this gentleman for a few minutes to realize he did not seem to care about my position. Mr. Mitchell (1) used words and body language that made me believe he thought he was better than me (2) that he talked down to me like I was a child when I asked a question without even ans...wering what I actually had asked (3) ended our conversation before I was done talking to him. I do not usually write reviews, as maybe he was having a bad day, but the fact that, as a ‘professional’, he should still extend professional courtesy, even if I was not yet a client of his. This is just my opinion, but I was not impressed, and quite insulted. The good side to Mr. Mitchell was that he dressed well and looked the part.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
