Family law cases are best handled 'hitting the ground running' so we push all of our clients, at the outset, to give us what we need by way of information and documentation. In every case, when a client retains SheaLaw, I assign the client to work with myself and one of my experienced legal assistants on their case. That legal assistant sends the new client a fee agreement that has already been discussed during our initial consultation so that the client understands our hourly rates and the basics of our billing system and approach. Because these cases are very expensive and in order to be transparent, I have made my professional services agreement/fee agreement accessible on my website to ensure there are no surprises. Please make sure to review this agreement as it explains in detail the fees and costs that are billed in any family law case I take. Additionally, we have a refillable advanced fee system and that is also explained in that professional services agreement.
We are busy here at SheaLaw so I'm not here to run us in circles and waste your time and money. I have plenty of clients and my approach to these cases, as a result, is to try to navigate the client to a conclusion sooner than later. In doing so, I make the client aware of options as we move through the case so that we can try to achieve the results they want and the client ultimately chooses the path.
My exposure to divorce work in 30 plus years has resulted in handling very complex cases with client's who have estates in excess of 50 millions dollars to basic cases involving no assets at all. I have an established team of experts I use in the high asset cases and tailor their involvement to the desires of the client in an effort to ensure we use the client's money constructively and effectively.
