Byron George Powell

My father hired Byron G. Powell to help with line issue of his property 1999. My father received a quit claim deed from the neighbor and paid the neighbor through Byron and also has a signed form from the neighbor stating the resolution. However, Byron paid the owner and not the lender and never le...gally informed the lender of the transaction. Now my father is in a contract with someone to purchase his land and we now find out the title states that the property is still not his. Now that Byron is retired and in Hawaii no contact information available so this matter can be resolved and his acting attorney states he is not able to help us in any way for they do not have the paperwork. Wow, no help, no compassion and now living in Hawaii. Doesn't sound right to me.

On March 14, 2007 I paid Mr Powell $1,005 to re-open my closed case. He promised me, verbally, that he could do this. He subsequently even forgot that I had been in his office, paid him and gave him copies of pertenant documents. He again promised to call the Chaper 13 clerks' office in Spokane an...d Seattle, WA to get the information to re-open it and transfer it to Spokane. Any time after that consultation, he never answered my phone call messages, and was not in to get an appointment. In November of 2007, I mailed him a letter, firing him, requesting my monies be refunded to me and my documents. He never acknowledged my letter nor any phone calls. I sued Mr Powell in Small Claims Court, the judge was a good friend of his, and even though he admitted he only made 1 phone call (to another attorney), and had not contacted either Clerks' office, the judge said he could keep all the money. I filed an appeal, which is pending, but since I relied on him to my detriment, I hope to secure my money from him. The time is of the essence case, was to prevent ECMC from collecting monies from my retirement checks and withholding my IRS refunds. To date, I have at least lost the $600 rebate and possibly more if my retirement comes upto the amount they can attach. I wished this to be resolved, and he had made promises to do just that. I feel he is not of a mind to be practicing law.
