Michael John Kapaun

Integrity, service and excellence are cornerstone values of America's uniformed services. Those values have become the brand of my civilian career as legal counselor to municipal, business and construction clients. People believe in honest, solutions-oriented partners. That is my calling - to guide clients through today's increasingly complex legal challenges.

I enjoy helping cities, contractors and businesses achieve common sense solutions through vigorous representation. If dispute resolution should fail, I am prepared to fight for my clients in court. I have a particularly strong background in federal procurement and claims procedures.

After practicing law in Washington, DC for four years, the Pacific Northwest called me back home. My wife and I returned to Spokane to begin civilian practice and raise our family. I spent 14 years in private practice as a partner at the largest law firm in Spokane and the oldest in the State of Washington. Today I am honored to serve as the City Attorney for Cheney, Washington and continue to serve neighbor and nation in the Air National Guard. I enjoy coaching youth baseball and pray that the Seattle Mariners will someday rekindle the "refuse to lose" spirit of the Lou Piniella era.
