Processing Of Green Card Application After Marriage

This is the first time I ever had to use a lawyer and it was quite an eye-opener. Filing a petition for Permanent Residency (Green Card) and Adjustment of Status after marrying a US Citizen can be quite a daunting process, and there's not a lot of information on-line that lays out that process in a c...lear, simple and defined manner so that you can do it yourself. This is because there can be many different aspects that affect the filing depending on the individuals involved. Even though our route seemed fairly straightforward, and we thought we had all our ducks in a row, we just figured the safest thing to do would be to hire a lawyer to make sure we didn't miss anything and that there were no mistakes that could delay or derail our application. After searching on the internet for an appropriate immigration lawyer in Portland, the Avvo site seemed to have what we we looking for, so I contacted about 8 lawyers to get an idea of how they worked and what sort of costs I would be looking at. At the end of that process, Ray was by far the most approachable and open about his practice and services. Most of the lawyers I've spoken to were very tight lipped or vague about their fees and wouldn't disclose any information without prior agreement to a consultation; which of course means you have to pay to find out if you actually want to work with that firm or not. In one instance I actually felt I was being harassed by a lawyer who tried to use scare tactics and intimidation in a bid for us to engage their services. WTF! Luckily though we found Ray. It seems to me that any legal endeavour is going to be a stressful one, because the cost is always going to be a huge concern, so you want to feel secure that the lawyer you hire is competent, completely on your side and not trying to rip you off. And that is why we chose Ray. You only have to go to his website. Right there on the front page is a flat-rate for his services for the Green Card application. I called him up and we agreed to meet with him to discuss the whole process and timeline and he did an excellent job of reassuring us with his calm and personable manner. Once the process was underway he was easily contactable when we had questions we needed advice on, and was always very quick to respond to emails. The process itself isn't ridiculously complicated, but it's long (about 5-6 months) and can be tricky to navigate. There were a few things we missed from our own research and I think we would've struggled and endured a lot more stress, and wasted time, without Ray on our side to guide us with his expertise. He definitely helped to expedite things and made it all run very smoothly, even accompanying us to our final interview at USCIS. Our application was successful and we're very grateful to Ray for all his help, knowledge and advice. If you're looking for an immigration lawyer in the Portland area I can't recommend him highly enough. He's great value for money, gives you peace of mind throughout the whole journey and is everything you would expect from someone with a 5 Star rating.

Best choice we could have made!!!

After researching government websites for immigration and realizing what a complicated maze of forms and fees it is, I called a dozen immigration attorneys. While visiting my wife and daughter, who are citizens in Central Europe, where we were married, we ran into a friend if my wife, who's daughter ...and son in law had hired Ray Alexander. We decided to hire Ray after one conversation. Throughout the 16 months of filing and paying fees and producing all required documents, Ray was with us every step of the way. Professional, friendly and thorough. Whenever we called or emailed stay responded and was there to answer our questions and guide us through the process . Thanks to Ray, who filed our immigration papers as our attorney, everything was approved and processed by the .US government. Thank you Ray for all your help through our marriage visa immigration process! Sincerely, Gerard

Excellent Legal Advice and Representation for Immigration

Ray Alexander provided excellent legal assistance with the CR-1 (permanent resident) visa application I submitted on behalf of my wife from the Philippines. Ray gives assistance at every level. He explains the process clearly and great detail. He reviews all documents carefully before submission.... In my case, he caught issues before they became serious problems (for example, that the NSO version of the marriage certificate was required, not the one from the civil registrar). Such assistance is essential for anyone who is considering filing a petition for immigration--I cannot imagine going through this process without Ray's competent help. There are many documents and forms involved in applying for a CR-1 spouse visa. Ray was immensely helpful with instructions for each document or form and reviewed them carefully to make sure they were accurate and didn't raise any red flags in processing. Even the fact that I petitioned for the CR-1, rather than the outdated K-3 visa, was due to Ray. Thus, his advice was invaluable right from the start of the process. When there were unexpected delays in processing the I-130 petition and later with the National Visa Center, Ray followed up with emails to the appropriate offices to help get matters moving again. Amazingly, Ray is constantly available to his clients. I usually had a reply from Ray within an hour of sending him an email. And I sent him many emails asking the most exotic questions. Ray patiently and fully answered my questions and provided as much comfort as possible in a process fraught with anxieties. Ray charges a flat legal fee for his services-- for the petition all the way to visa approval. This encourages his clients to consult him. No fears of running up a huge legal bill by asking lots of questions. And Ray's fee structure is affordable compared with the other immigration lawyers I considered. Top rate advice on immigration law, competent assistance with each step of the process, and unmatched responsiveness for a reasonable fee. Ray Alexander gets my strongest recommendation to anyone looking for legal assistance related to immigration.
