The absolute best

Elizabeth was amazingly helpful in my child custody case. She was knowledgeable, thorough, and gave me honest assessments and sound advice. Following her expert guidance through a difficult case brought a happy resolution I don't believe I could have achieved through anyone else. She is the best.

Great Attorney

I hired Elizabeth to help with a very messy divorce and custody case that involved jurisdiction issues between Oregon and Washington. She was very knowledgeable about all the legal issues, gave me really good advice, and was able to coordinate with other lawyers that I was working with. I was referre...d to Elizabeth by a family friend who had been pleased with the service she provided him. Since working with Elizabeth, I have also referred to her to other close family friends. I would strongly recommend talking to Elizabeth before you hire an attorney for any family law issues.

Very Professional with good results

Elizabeth Christy represented me in my divorce. The divorce was a pretty challenging one but she and her assistant, Amber, handled it well. I was extremely happy with the outcome and would highly recommend Elizabeth to anyone with a family law matter. Her confidence and professionalism made me feel... that I was in good hands. She has a great reputation in the community, and I can see why. Elizabeth is friendly and really cares about you and your case. I always felt that she had my best interests in mind and would do everything she could to get you the best result possible. Some attorneys are in it for the money, but I believe Elizabeth wants the best for you. Divorce is never easy, but if you have an awesome attorney representing you, it makes it a little less painful.

I wouldn't recommend her

January 2022-After spending over a year communicating via email only with a lot of communication problems and misunderstandings. I paid my Lawyer over $22k for mediation. I believe a lot of these misunderstandings could have been resolved with a phone call, but she wasn't available most of the time.... I felt she was not compassionate or empathetic to what I was going through. When I explained my disappointment in the way the orders were written, it seemed like she took it personally and said I was being mean. I was very nice in explaining what I wanted, but she became defensive. You should be able to tell your lawyer what you don’t like and do like in your case without backlash. I feel she didn't know enough about retirement accounts. I consulted with her about whether I should sign my X husband's retirement from the way it was written, and she thought it was ok to sign. I found out that if I had not signed the form the way it was written, I would have received retirement through the end of my lifetime. Now it will be the end of my husbands’ lifetime. This may have cost me a year's worth of salary. I feel she overbilled me for most emails and at the first mediation agreement left a lot of detail out. Instead of just clarifying with the judge what his rulings were she chose to pursue a needless and costly 2nd mediation and chose to spend time writing out more stipulations to the order and charging me to go back and forth with the opposing attorney and judge. I started to see that she was wasting my money, so I fired her and decided to get clarification from the mediator myself which was something she wasn’t doing. I got what I needed in 4 simple emails to the judge, and it would have saved me a lot of money if she had only done what I did in the beginning. I feel lawyers think they can charge whatever they want, and we must pay it. I don't feel she should have charged me for the last $2500.00. She has now put a lien on me for $2200.00 and I only owed her $1600.00. Who does that? Some lawyers will oblige the client and meet in the middle. When I requested a refund/credit she told me not to ever contact her office again. It would have been nice if she reached out and gave me a credit for some of the wasted time. The invoice was not even 60 days old.

Dear Former Client - I’m unable to substantively respond to your review because I’m bound by attorney client confidentiality. I disagree completely with all of your statements except I admit I did take your complaints personally. Because my name is on the door, I am personally invested in providing the best service to my clients. Although you claim you are unhappy with my services, I would bet that any third party who reviewed your public court file would see what I see, that you were the prevailing party. The fees paid were actually below average and were consistent with the estimates in the fee agreement you signed when you retained me. It is unusual for a former client to outright lie in this manner. I am specifically troubled by your allegation that I advised you to sign a retirement form when I have just the opposite in writing. Your blatant misrepresentations are so out of the ordinary that I can only assume this is an attempt to get me to waive your outstanding balance with my office. I hope that you find the strength to heal from this process. Wish you the best, Elizabeth

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
