Michael M Yahng

As a first-time lawyer experience, Michael really made the process as easy as I could have imagined. His fluent Korean and perfect English was extremely helpful for communicating with both my parents (native Koreans) and I (born in the states). He was able to outline the legal process with the utmo...st clarity, and was very direct with his communications. As a busy guy, I appreciate someone who is efficient with their time and mine. Occasionally he has been difficult to reach, but I think this has to do to inadequate administrative help. Just be sure to come to your meeting prepared to really get the most out of your time and money. Real nice guy, very professional and respectful. I will come back to him if I’m in need of more legal help.

My relative hired Yahng for a marriage dissolution case within the past 2 years. He had been recommended to us through the Korean American community, which was necessary because the client's native language is Korean. We were hoping for someone who would clearly and fully explain the process and what... is needed and someone who would be a trustworthy advocate. Yahng fell short in these areas. Whatever the standard practices are, there is room for good customer service once in a while. While meetings were not difficult to set up, he was adamant about payment up front and meetings felt rushed. There was a lack of sincerity for the client's cause. He also would refuse to go out of his way at any time, and asked the client to deliver documents during business operating hours when it was difficult to leave at times. The most disappointing part of the process was that the Case was prolonged because of the lawyers mistake. When the client called to check on the progress of the case after some time near the end of the 90 day period, Yahng informed the client that the case had been dismissed and would need to start over again. What a shock. Not only did Yahng not notify the client earlier, he did not offer any explanation as to what happened or why. He also did not admit his fault of failing to show up for a court date. This was later revealed through review of documentation. The case was eventually resolved, but the lack of communication and sincerity of the lawyer leaves us feeling like we had not hired the right person. We cannot recommend this lawyer to anyone we know because of the lack of care and professionalism in how he handled the case. Divorce is already an expensive and consuming process, emotionally and time wise. No need to hire someone who will not be a strong advocate for you.
