Unprofessional and poor communication

Hiring Sarah was a mistake. She appeared at my first court date ill-prepared. She had to ask me for copies of the paperwork she submitted. She left out key points in the paperwork and was supposed to refile to correct her errors but has refused to do so. She argued with the judge. She was unprof...essionally dressed and began every statement with, "ummmm.... welll.." while shuffling through the notes she quickly jotted down while waiting in the hall for the court date to begin. The second court date was much the same. She continually argued with the judge and then acknowledged that she had left off key points of contempt against the other party and failed to file the corrections. During the hearing, she apparently agreed to changes in the parenting plan against my wishes and hand wrote changes on the paperwork she was discussing with the opposing party's attorney. She initialed the changes and signed the paperwork but never gave me a copy. She then filed her handwritten changes with the court. When requested she gave me a copy of the original paperwork but not the one with the changes. When it came time to visit my children for Christmas, I was refused visitation because I did not follow the new arrangement Sarah chose to set forth on her own accord. I had to order copies of the paperwork through the courts myself where I discovered the changes Sarah had agreed to. Additionally, the opposing party was supposed to provide me with my children's medical records and school records. They claim they provided those files directly to Sarah. Sarah has refused to give them to me or even acknowledge my request to see the files. Sarah has not returned any of my phone calls or emails since November 2014. She was supposed to appear at a court date on my behalf at that time and advised me that I did not have to appear. From court records, she did not appear either and has failed to offer an explanation. I have a settlement conference date coming up in a week that she has not confirmed with the courts. Due to my lack of confidence in her skills and the animosity created with the other party in part due to Sarah's actions, I do not want to proceed with my petition. However, after repeated requests, the petition has not been cancelled and Sarah refuses to respond to any requests. Her unprofessionalism and lack of communication does not breed confidence in her ability to represent a client. I wanted to file a petition to spend more time with my children and her actions have resulted in my losing time with my children and increased animosity with the opposing party that has led to the visits I do have with my children being extremely unpleasant. It is my advice that anyone thinking of hiring Sarah Whitney reconsider their decision.

Unprofessional

I would never recommend Sarah to anyone she is horrible, unprofessional, never got things done EVER! Made us look stupid in court, never knew our court dates so we would show up on the wrong date! Never called to keep us informed and never returned calls In a timely manner we had her for a family law... case custody/ parenting plan she knows nothing about family law please please do not make the same mistake we did by hiring her!!!!

Would never use her again

I hired Sarah to represent me. She doenst have an office. her address is a mailbox. she answers her phone at first and then quits responding. She does not give information timely, i have proof of what i am saying. She has delayed to the point i had to request her to withdraw and am hiring another law...yer. She has had 7 months to get requests for information and subpoenas together. She was way over her head representing me. telling me she had a subpoena and when i pressured her to show me she said she didnt get it certified, a month after saying she had it. I am out $5,000 due to Sarah not following through. if you do hire her, at the first sign of a delay, i would drop her and get someone else. She is a nice person, but when it comes to getting things done, she has let vital things slip.
