Worst attorney we’ve ever encountered. Total Con man

By the time we consulted with Nathan he had relocated to the greater Dallas area & set up his practice in McKinney. When we first met, we explicitly explained that we had two separate & distinct construction problems we needed assistance with. (In TX, no license is required to call oneself a General ...Contractor- which opens the door to lots of scam artists). One problem involved getting a $7,000.00 credit from a credit card company for a “contractor’s” very inappropriate framing, wall positioning & failure to complete a small project. We’d already brought the City Building Inspector into our home & the findings were so bad that the inspector elevated the complaint up to state level. The second problem was absolutely straight fraud. A company had breached one of our credit cards & charged over $10k without our knowledge or approval (on a card not even ever activated). We asked Nathan to write legal letters to each of the credit card companies & attempt to get our money refunded on the first matter & to stop the fraud on the second matter. When we first met he did not want any of our proof of construction defects at all. He took a few notes, but declined to accept any of our expertly documented proof. He insisted on collecting a non interest bearing deposit, insisted on bringing someone he called an “expert” to look at the problems in order to get a second opinion! The guy was nice, but ignorant of many construction matters. When we later asked for his report, Nathan told us there would be no “formal” report due to time & expense (but he wiggled the home visit in - in order to line his pocket with an extra $1k+ - which really irritated us. Then we got a call from Liz, his office manager, asking us if Nathan could come back to our house for another meeting?? Since my spouse was recovering from very major surgery, we asked the purpose & she stated she had no idea. We scheduled it, but Nathan forgot & never showed up!! He later called & apologized for the confusion. Then he explained that he was going through a difficult divorce, had lost custody of his children & had meanwhile fallen back in love with someone he knew in Knoxville - while planning or attending a school reunion. His purpose in reaching out to us was because he “liked us & needed friends to hang out with.” He also wanted us to know that the divorce & travel were why he’d been so absent from the office so frequently. He was off to Knoxville having trysts. Meanwhile our two cases were being solely handled by a terrible paralegal, Ashlea, whom we never met, as we believe she works remotely. & the simple letters we asked Nathan to write were each pretty terrible & whomever wrote them got the details mixed up. Nathan blew it off as a “typo.” No, a typo is one word misspelled. These errors were extremely substantive & they had the audacity to charge for rewriting their garbage. So poor! And boy oh boy can Nathan rack up charges for absolutely zero output! And he’s an extremely arrogant man who demands respect, based upon zero output. During our last & hopefully final conversation, he sounded like a petulant little boy throwing a temper tantrum. It was a pathetic conversation, during which he admitted that from the outset he didn’t feel he could help us recoup any money the con-men had gotten. What’s so irritating is he didn’t say that at any time until yesterday. Why take our deposit & charge is almost $9,000. bucks for work he never felt he could accomplish?? We’d like a full refund, but he probably needs it for travel to TN. We intend to file a formal complaint with the Texas State Bar Association based upon many issues. We’re also taking other actions against him. If this review gets removed, please be aware that we have proof of everything we’ve stated. Nathan is a bad actor, walking around with a law license. Go figure.

"I endorse this lawyer for his outstanding ability to get money out of obligors who do not wish to pay money the Court says they owe. Every client I have sent to him, and every lawyer who has worked with Nathan has nothing but good things to say about his work. Doesn't get a lot better than that. Elizabeth Powell"
