"Because Mr. Espinoza is a deputy prosecuting attorney, I have had the pleasure of working with him on multiple cases in which my client, the state Department of Corrections, challenged the trial court's sentencing in his cases. Therefore, I can't say we were difinitively opposing parties, but we also were not squarely aligned 100% of the time on issues. Despite the fact that my role several times has been essentially to ask Mr. Espinoza to work toward fixing what I believed was a sentending error that the trial court committed, he has never complained that I get annoying, though I certainly must be annoying to him at times. In all cases, he has been easy to work with and also creative in his problem solving approach. He has excellent diplomatic skills, as well as litigation skills."
