MacKenzie is an experienced litigator who believes that everyone should have access to affordable legal help during the most important moments of their lives. MacKenzie is passionate about helping counsel clients through some of the toughest times they will ever face. Before moving up to Washington MacKenzie managed a legal aid provider in Houston, working for clients who were in the middle, who work hard everyday but could easily be crippled financially by a legal setback.
MacKenzie has strived to be at the top of his field. He was recently recognized for his work in Family Law by Houstonian Magazine as a Top Lawyer in 2019,2020 and 2021 and Thompson Reuters in 2020, 2021, and 2022 as a Rising Star.
MacKenzie went to law school at the University of Houston Law Center where he focused on litigation through the Blakely Advocacy Institution. MacKenzie was an active part of UHLC's Mock Trial team, Moot Court team, and the Advocates. In the Spring of 2017 MacKenzie was one of four students who were chosen to help train the United States Court Guards investigators through trial demonstrations. MacKenzie was recognized for his achievements in trial advocacy by the Houston Bar Association Litigation Section in April 2017. For his effective use of storytelling and trial strategy, MacKenzie was awarded the 2017 Jim Perdue Sr. Trial Advocacy Award.

After a 2 day trial the client was found not guilty.
Plaintiff prevailed, was awarded attorneys fees, court costs, and a civil penalty against the Landlord.
After two and a half days of trial the Court granted two final protective orders. One for the child under chapter 7a and one for my client which contained a finding of family violence.
We obtained an order granting her as SMC with the parents being possessory conservators. the parents have supervised visitation while they're recovering from addiction.
The District Attorney dismissed the charge because we found out about the bad search.
