I graduated from Seattle University with a BA in 1960. I graduated from Gonzaga Law School in 1964, and was admitted to the Washington State Bar in 1964. I commenced my legal career as a Captain in the US Army assigned to the Judge Advocate General's office for one year. After working with the state Attorney General's Office and in private practice, I moved to Honolulu where I was admitted to the Hawaii state bar in 1970. I practiced there for five years during which I was active in real estate and corporate law, and also was involved in several US District Court criminal cases. I moved back to Seattle in 1974, and since then I have been in private practice in Seattle Washington principally in the areas of commercial and residentail real estate, profit and nonprofit business law, and estate planning and probate . In the last several years I have been a sole practioner under the name of Law Office of Robert R. Mackin. In 2010 I was named by Seattle Met magazine as one of Seattle's top lawyers. I also have the highest rating available - AV - from the national legal organization Martindale-Hubbell. I have been active as a volunteer in several local community nonprofit organizations, and I am a member of the state bar Committee on nonprofit corporations which is drafting a new law on this that subject. As I look back on my career, I think what I would most remember is the many good people I was associated with the , that is, clients, fellow attorneys, and especially the clerical people who were really dedicated.
