Avoid at all costs

Avoid this attorney. He sounds extremely intelligent and informative. His website is fantastic. Don’t be fooled. I hired him for a workers compensation case. Louisiana law states the attorney receives up to 20% of any workers compensation payments. Of course, he takes the maximum amount. He was able... to get my workers compensation continued after writing a letter. I later found out that the letter contained assurances that we were seeking a settlement which I was very clear in our conferences I did not want to do. He never did anything else for 2 years. Nothing. I would call and check on the case and he would lie. I was being denied medical treatments, but he never filed the appeals. My checks began to come later and later. I had to call to find out why I wasn’t receiving them. He blamed workers compensation. I later found out that was also a lie. He avoided calls, didn’t return emails, and didn’t return calls after leaving a message. Traveled to meet with him (I lived in a different state from my case). He cancelled our appointment 1 hour before we were to meet. He became hostile and clearly didn’t want to meet in person. He stated that workers compensation was going to end my payments soon because the extension was ending. The gravy train was over so he didn’t want to be involved in the case anymore. Took 6 months to get my case file from him. Case file from 2 years consisted of 6 pages. 4 of those pages were the ones I signed when I retained him. He literally only wrote a single letter. Still owed me money for missing workers compensation payments. He charged me $500 for attorney expenses but refused to give me an itemized invoice explaining the expenses. I’m still owed money. Complaining to bar association.

unimpressed (New Orleans)

Assuming this is David Buie out of New Orleans, La...(if not please ignore my review) my workers comp claim was strung out and finally closed due to his failure to file an appeal. After months of nothing happening I began checking up on what he claimed he was doing and quickly found he was not bein...g honest with me. When I tried to bring my concerns to him he refused to communicate. I finally had to contact opposing side and discovered I was being fooled by my attorney. This is just my opinion but if your claim is not an automatic win he's probably not the guy for you. I would say read reviews of attorneys before you select one.
