Very satisfied with legal advice and legal representation.

I retained John as my attorney to represent me in a very complex custody case that ended in my favor. I found him to be understanding, thoughtful and thorough. John was a great listener who answered my questions and explained the legal strategy he intended to use for my case. I also appreciated that ...he made no guarantees of winning but walked me through the likely outcome based on his knowledge of the law, case history and his past experience--all of which provided me the confidence to retain him as my legal council. In the months and weeks leading up to my court date, John continually displayed confidence in his ability as a lawyer through, his preparation, analysis and filings. His legal thinking and our conversations helped me feel more prepared and ready. On the day of my hearing John (once again) walked me through the hearing process and then proceeded to present my case to the court (consistent with the way he said he would in our previous conversations) and after hearing both sides of the case, the judge ruled in my favor and I won. Thanks to John I am able to continue being a single-father parent with full custody of my daughter. I am very satisfied that I retained John as my attorney.

Responsive, and doesn't waste your time

John consulted with me on a roommate eviction issue. He took the time to understand my situation, and then provided sound advice that helped me take informed next steps to resolve my issue. He was very honest with me about my options, and did not push me to hire an attorney when he concluded my issue... was probably not able to be resolved legally. I greatly appreciated his honestly and responsiveness. If I need counsel in the future on similar issues, I would not hesitate to hire him.

Fair and Caring Attorney

I hired Mr. Matson to help me with a highly contested divorce that included children. I had spoken with a few different attorneys and all started off saying my situation was somewhat dire and they would fight to get the best outcome for me. Mr. Matson’s approach was completely different from day ...one. His approach was first to look at all the parties involved, including the children, and focused on what would be best for everyone. He helped me to develop a strategy to aim for a fair settlement and avoid trial, though he was fully prepared to go to trial. Throughout the entire process he was always up front and concerned about the financial impacts. I have heard plenty of other stories of attorneys just racking up the bills with no regard to reality for the parties involved. He would answer my requests for action and questions with legit approaches to mitigate cost, legal proceedings, and wasted time. As with most attorneys, he is very busy, and even volunteers his time, but despite all that I still felt he cared about my situation, case, and time. He was very responsive and was exceptional in weeding through the facts versus the chaos I would throw his way. He would ask what my goals and desired outcomes would be and then would help guide me through the process to obtain those. He is knowledgeable of the law and has an excellent way of explaining it to those of us that are not lawyers by trade. My major concern was the outcome being fair and the child custody side of things. In the end, a settlement was reached in my case, and a formal trial was avoided. I have already and would recommend Mr. Matson if you are looking for a caring approach from somebody you can trust.

Relationship: Fellow lawyer in community

"I've has the pleasure to know John Matson as a personal friend for roughly 15 years. He is now practicing family law in WA, and he has agreed to handle my cases while I'm on vacation. I say this because I greatly value all my family law clients and I wouldn't ask anyone to handle my cases in my absence if I didn't have absolute confidence in their abilities and their desire to do their best for all their clients, including mine. I have no problem recommending John Matson to anyone looking for a smart, articulate, and caring attorney dedicated to achieving the right result for his clients."
