James A. Soukup

I used James Soukup of Soukup Law in Everett WA to represent me when my wife filed for divorce. It was a huge relief when I met him as my now ex-wife wanted to severely limit my time as a father with our 2 year old daughter. My daughter is the most important thing in the world to me and I needed to... do everything possible to allow me to be a significant part of her life and to be her father. During and now that the process is over I am so glad that I found Mr. Soukup to represent me. Throughout the year for our case, he was always available for questions and reassurances. I also appreciate during this whole time he told me how it is without giving me false hopes or promises of what I might get in time with my daughter. Mr. Soukup also made good choices when a GAL was needed as well as made a good choice in choosing a mediator. His billing was clear and easy to follow with no fees that were surprising. Although any lawyer is expensive, I feel that Mr. Soukup’s charges were fair when I compared and well worth it. I will always refer people to him that have the unfortunate experience of divorce or child custody battles. His office is also across the street from the courthouse making court appearances very simple and convenient. You will not regret using him, and I am typically pretty skeptical! I was divorced several years ago, but the state in which the divorce occurred did not have jurisdiction over the child custody. On the advice of another legal team in WA I filed a paternity case in order to start proceedings in WA for the establishment of a Parenting Plan. This was NOT the correct ...way to start this case and added a lot of complexity and difficulty to what could have been a straightforward case. It was at that point that I was referred to Mr. Soukup. He straightened out the mess I had made of the case and got me back on track, then he handled my case all the way through the trial for a final order. He kept me informed of proceedings, made suggestions on strategy and helped me keep ahead of my ex-wife's legal team. When there was a hearing (other than trial) he represented me in my absence (I live in VA), always keeping my goals in mind. When it finally came time for trial, he knew exactly what questions to ask the witnesses (myself and my ex-wife) to show the judge who was being truthful and looking out for my son's best interests. He was extremely knowledgeable, honest, and thorough. With his guidance my case went through without a hitch and I was awarded almost exactly the parenting plan that I had asked for to begin with. If I ever have to do anything to do with family law in WA again I would hire Mr. Soukup in a heartbeat.

I used another 2 attorneys before I retained James. I also consulted with a lot of attorneys regarding my divorce. James is the best. He is a very responsible, caring, knowledgeable. I went to court with James 3 times during my divorce process, and everytime I got what I wanted. The Guardian ad Litem... recommended 50/50 parenting plan, some attorneys I went to see advised me that it is impossible to challenge since the GAL has good reputation but James made it happen, he got me primary custody of my daughter. I also got a lot more than what I expected on financial. I can not thank James enough.
