I needed a lawyer for a custody/visitation battle with my son’s mother and found Michael on the AVVO website. After a quick consultation, I hired him and it was one of the BEST decisions I could’ve made. He knows his craft and knew exactly how to address my situation. We recently had a difficult family law case. We were up against an opposing parent with extensive resources but the issue was too important for us not to fight for the safety of our child. We had retained a different attorney and after 4 months of little to no progress and extensive fees we felt it w...as time to make a change. It is my pleasure to write this letter of reference for my attorney, Mr. Michael Chin. Mr. Chin represented me in my modification of an existing parenting plan, which is a complex and difficult thing to navigate and get changed. I began the search on google, looking for a local attorney to assist m...e in modifying my parenting plan. As I spoke to several attorney’s they told me their retainer fee and concluded the conversation by stating once I have that in full we can discuss the details of your case. I then reached Michael Chin. He took his time with me on the phone, never once made me feel rushed. He asked me a few questions to better determine if he could assist me. I know he heard desperation in my voice. I inquired about the retainer, as I thought it was strange he hadn’t mentioned it. As we discussed it he told me he understood my situation and would be willing to work with me to make payment arrangements based on my pay schedule. I met with him soon after. My mind was made up from the rapport over the phone that he was the man for the job. He worked with me in pain-steaking-detail and built what was not “my” case, but in no uncertain terms, “our case”. He was on my team. He had my back! I felt such relief, after all, these were my kids we were fighting for. I knew this was going to be the hardest fright of my life, and he walked me through every step. I think sometimes he was just as much a therapist as a lawyer, showing compassion and attention to every need I had in the process. After being served, my ex-husband approached me to settle out of court. Michael had done his job so well that the other party didn’t want to take a chance in court. Michael spent more time, emails, and made more calls to mediate and work with the other party to get the matter resolved. I took Mr. Chin’s advice and he assured me that settling was a win win. Had my case gone to trial, he stood to make a lot more money from me. His singular focus was what was in my best interest and that never wavered. Even to his detriment, he fought for my kids and I with determination and ethics. The entire process was six months. I often spoke to Mr. Chin multiple times a day, and often late into the evening. Despite the time, he always assisted me and treated me with respect. From the first phone call Michael was professional, patient & helpful. His execution of time sensitive documents was proficient & timely. Mr. Chin kept open and ongoing communication throughout the process. If I could, I would refer everyone I know to Michael Chin as I know the greatest compliment is a referral. I hired Michael Chin since end of 2016. He helped me to go through my mediation and arbitration process. However, I am afraid of saying that I don’t recommend this lawyer if your case is complicated or hard to win, I think Michael is lack of strategy of sorting out your story if you are not detailed.... He also lack of responsibilities to quickly humanly respond to emails or phone calls. during my emergency I could only left messages on his cell phone. Many times he just brushed off my call with simply “busy” to hang up my calls. Michael Chin requested to give a good review with 5 stars from me on April 20 which I did. Because the reason I had to review him since I would still hire him as my continued lawyer for the school change issue with my ex husband. However, just on the July 30, 2018, he was failure to present me on the court, also failure to deliver my motion notice from Court! with below issues which caused me significantly loss of my case, not even spending more money for new lawyer hired but also paying more time to non-negotiate point. Therefore, due to this circumstance and unprofessional conduct, I request Chin Legal Group refund me back with my lawyer fees. My ex tried to change child school district on June 5, the opposing counsel indicated that the letter was well delivered by June 18 to Chin’s office in Lynnwood. However Michael didn’t notify me with the motion from Court. I personally didn’t receive the letter from Court either. I didn’t have Chin presented at Court that day. So the court granted the order to opposing counsel. When I looked for Michael Chin about this issue. He simply denied with whatever happened. I couldn’t accept his response and he kept denied that he didn’t receive the notification from opposing, but my new lawyer already forwarded that Michael Chin did receive the delivery on 6/18. My personal experience with working with Michael. I don’t suggest you use this lawyer if you want to win your case or if your case is more completed.
