Jehiel Baer

Jehiel Baer is a litigation attorney. He is a member of the Litigation and Trial Practice and the Emerging Companies Practice. His practice focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation. 

Jehiel has represented individual business owners, professionals, emerging companies, and Fortune 500 companies on matters including corporate governance, contract disputes, legal malpractice defense, commercial real estate, employment and wrongful termination, insurance bad-faith defense, and securities fraud. Jehiel specializes in the field of intellectual property litigation and has handled a wide range of copyright and trademark issues. 

Jehiel often provides a litigator’s perspective to the Emerging Companies Practice, leveraging his litigation experience to better protect clients from future disputes. He assists with negotiating transactions, drafting license agreements, and preparing terms of use by translating an evolving judicial landscape into meaningful and enforceable contracts. Jehiel is actively involved in protecting emerging companies’ intellectual property, both by defending clients’ copyright and trademark registrations in the face of opposition, and by enforcing clients’ intellectual property rights against infringement.

Prior to joining McNaul Ebel in 2014, Jehiel served as assistant counsel for both the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services and the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, where he advised on public procurement contracts, employment law, ethics, and regulatory compliance. 

Jehiel earned his JD from New York University School of Law. While in law school, he served as a law clerk with the United States Attorney’s Offices for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Eastern District of New York, and District of Maryland. He was a student advocate with the Immigration Law Unit of the Legal Aid Society and a teaching assistant to New York University president John Sexton. Jehiel was also a member of the Moot Court Board, serving as Associate Casebook Editor for the New York University Moot Court Casebook. 

Jehiel regularly provides pro bono legal services to active and reserve duty service members and veterans through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoys backpacking with his wife and greyhound, as well as touring the Pacific Northwest on his motorcycle.
