Robert Charles Kaufman

Divorce can be a truly horrific experience. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been referred to Robert Kaufman in late 2011 when I faced such circumstances. He is first and foremost professional in demeanor and actions, and well-versed in financial matters. During our first meeting, he ...adeptly (and patiently) listened, inquired and thoroughly assessed my circumstances. Within a matter of minutes, he had outlined and constructed legal next steps, including recommended actions on my part. As an active father of two sons, the custody and wellbeing of my children was of major importance. While in the end I did not achieve the parenting plan agreement I sought, I can genuinely say that Mr. Kaufman was extremely knowledgeable and versed in child custody law, and put forth every possible effort on my behalf, leveraging every avenue afforded by WA family law towards achieving the desired result. In hindsight years later, I can say that his counsel maximized to the greatest extent possible the residential time I have today with my sons. At no time did he make promises or guarantees, which I appreciated. He will clearly state objectives and strategies, and if you ask a difficult question, he will answer it if possible, but also clearly state when he could not do so in a professional capacity. I have contacted Mr. Kaufman on one or two occasions over the years to answer odd parenting plan questions that come up, and in every encounter his demeanor is welcoming, remembers myself and my children, and is quickly able to retrieve any and all critical documentation and respond in thorough detail. While I highly recommend Mr. Kaufman from the vantage point of a hard-working, engaged father, I will close by saying with confidence that he would also equally represent a hard-working and engaging mother in similar circumstance. WA family law is a treacherous ocean to navigate - Mr. Kaufman is the captain you need at the helm of your ship. You may or may not get the result you desire, but his stable, knowledgeable, insightful counsel is your best option.

Bob was my divorce attorney through a difficult divorce. He helped me through the initial hearing, temporary settlement, mediation and trial. The divorce was hands down the most unpleasant experience of my life. Made worse by my adversarial ex-wife and her shark of an attorney (who made me realize wh...y lawyers are so widely despised and wonder what kind of karma awaits him). Throughout it all, Bob was a calm, compassionate and level-headed presence. He was responsive to my inquiries and advocated for me forcefully when needed. The outcome from the trial could have been better but I have accepted that it is what it is given the legal system and lawyers like my ex-wife's attorney who are willing to lie outright and exploit the system with no scruples. I went into the process wanting to do the right thing and come to a just and equitable settlement with my ex-wife. Bob was the right attorney for me and for what I wanted. Even after the divorce decree, Bob has been quick to respond to my email inquiries. I would definitely recommend him.

If there was a way to give this attorney a zero for his service, I would give it without hesitation. I hired Bob based on the reviews on this website. However he is a phony, robs his clients and very inefficient. Over the course of 2 months, Bob kept telling me he was working on my case and yet never... made a move on an important matter. Bob would make excuses about server breaking down, family emergencies, etc for the "minor delays" but NEVER apologized for lack of action on my case. I was getting ready for trial on September 6th and I provided all my financial documentation weeks in advance for preparation and yet Bob failed to reach out to the opposing counsel to get any documents from my former spouse. Bob failed to consult with me on how he was going to approach the trial or if he was interested in helping me through mediation. Not sure in this day and age how can a lawyer not have close communication with their clients over a trial and deadlines. Bob would never respond to any of my emails or voicemails in a timely manner. All the cellphone and email logs will prove that he is nothing but a liar. And yet when I fired him, he has the audacity to send me a bill clearly charging me for reading the endless emails I sent him along with listening to my voicemails. Not sure why he has a "part time" assistant - I NEVER heard from her as to what's causing the delays nor did she ever answer the phone. Such so called attorneys are better off sitting at home rather than robbing their clients who are already hurting and trying to move on with their lives. My former spouse sent certain documentations back in January 2016 and yet when I asked for a complete copy of my file back, I received copies of only what I sent him and NOT the complete file. Its very evident that he tampered my file and jeopardized my case from having a successful end. Back in January 2016, the judge ordered my former spouse to pay my legal fees, instead of mailing me a check payment for $2000 immediately, Bob held on to it the entire time and never sent me a bill regularly in the mail. I would not recommend this unprofessional and inefficient lawyer even to my enemy.

Mr Kaufman is not only a great attorney he is also a great man. I was caged myself in a bad marriage for years before I met him.
