Great Attorney, Even Better Person

Not sure that I can add much to the stunning accolades the other reviewers have already bestowed on Patrick. So, I'll just tell you what he did. After months of working with another Patent attorney with things going nowhere, I consulted Patrick and he solved the problem in just one day. After taking ...a quick look at a one-sided agreement I signed with a licensee, he saw immediately that it was voidable. The very next day the licensee caved to my demand that the agreement be amended to make it non-exclusive. What a relief. I'm finally free to seek out other opportunities with my patent.

Common sense is hard to find

I am Pacific Volt's CTO. I have worked with Patrick for at least 25 years, except for a short lived period of time when our new CEO wanted a "big firm" to handle our IP - which was a huge mistake. After that CEO was forced out, I went back to Pat and our IP has been exceptionally well taken care of e...ver since. In my experience Pat has an uncommon knowledge of how the patent world functions. He also has uncommonly good advice about how and where to apply your budget.

Extraordinary IP Counselor

Patrick (Pat) Dwyer has been an important, competitive asset for my companies since meeting him in 1997. Without exception Pat is in a league of his own - deftly maneuvering the USPTO labyrinth and transforming roadblocks into opportunities. In addition to being an affable, skilled counselor, he brin...gs a unique perspective to problem solving. I depend on his ability to quickly deduce what is often ambiguous for a linear thinker. In any scenario Pat can be relied upon as keenly engaged with great desire to achieve his client’s objectives. Pat has worked closely with me at InstantService for more than 10 years, managing all of our intellectual property. Securing a seminal patent (6,915,336) for our real-time enterprise class Internet communications system was a tricky proposition from the outset. Challenges from IBM and Lucent proved minor hurdles with Pat’s unflappable guidance. I will continue to seek his counsel and look forward to working with him again. Damion Hankejh, CTO

"Patrick brings an excellent personality to patent law. He's able to communicate in regular language which I think is important for an attorney doing such rigorous work. I look forward to referring cannabis clients to him as that area grows into patentable products (which it is!)."

"Working as the only lawyer in a medium size business is a lot like being the family doctor: everyone comes to you with everything, and they expect you to handle it all. Every once in a while, however, you need to refer to a specialist. Intellectual property is one of those areas where I on occasion need help - and Pat has been our source for trademark and IP assistance for many years. He provides good, practical and cost-effective advice, and understands how business clients think. He is consistently a pleasure to work with."

Relationship: Worked together on matter

"Patrick is a briliant lawyer and astute patent and Intellectual Property law practioners. He and I worked on many matters togther over the years and he is one of the very best. I knew Patrick when he was a law student and he and another law student from University of Puget Sound Law School won the National Giles RIch Moot Court competitions, a prestigious award presented by the American Intellectual Property Law Association. I have worked with and watched Patrick's career develop since he started practicing law and cannot recommend him highly enough."
