Horrible attorney

Gets nothing done. Doesn't respond to calls, text messages, or emails. Drags stuff on for YEARS. Has predatory behavior taking advantage of young addicted drug addicts whi he moves in and out of his HOME OFFICE. Stay away from this fraud .

Very knowledgeable and will go the extra mile

My case is very complicated. To sum it up a bit. I was buying my home but during the process they took my money but resold my home to a man who was running for city counsel in Benton city Washington. To say the least I was out gunned in this fight. But when Richard Pope began working on my case I f...inally felt like I had a fighting chance. I'm a single mom who could never have had a chance without Richard. He is so knowledgeable and he has impressed me at every turn. We are still in the middle of my case so I can't say if we won or not yet but I can say I feel very hopeful knowing I have Richard Pope helping me.

very bad attorney

I hired him to help me solve my issue with some real estate compony.I gave him deposit two years ago.I been having big problem since he dos not respond to my phone call and email.Later on notice that he was disciplined with state bar in 2012.As of today my case did not go anywhere.I contacted state b...ar once before and second time a month ago.I noticed that need to hire another attorney.Richard Lamar Pope has my money he dos not respond and need to find another attorney after two years waisting my time.He is a very bad person with no heart.I hope that state bar of Washington take his license away and no one else feel the way I feel.We do not need heartless, careless ,unprofessional people in our society to take advantage of 67 years old man.

Procedural errors abound

Mr.Pope was the first attorney hired by my ex's adult son that tried to evict me from a house he knew I didn't live in,in a state I don't live in 400 miles from my house with no documentation or evidence against me nor anyone else named......never did i ever have any sort or tenancy with him anywhere... at anytime. The first page in the evidence portion of the eviction was merely a couple short paragraphs and still states 3 times He (plaintiffs/accuser) knew I didn't live there or in the same state even. The sworn declaration in addition says "showed up a couple days ago" and "we dont know where he stays at night".He could not demonstrate legal landlord status, tenancy nor cause to the court in anyway. The case was ultimately handed to another attorney whom not only attempted to defend the case in court he defended the same case served under counsel of Mr.Pope but simply put a cover letter on Mr.Popes paperwork and filed it with mr.popes letter head still on the documents. The county's pro bono attorneys made light work of the case in court.I observed it first hand on zoom. The procedural errors, absolute absence of supporting evidence at all,let alone meeting the burden required by the court and the questionable content of the paperwork/proceedings left much to be desired.I did not see him in the court room as the plaintiff fired him and hired a different attorney.I can only speak on negotiation outside court and paperwork/procedure but I was not impressed.Several basic procedural errors right off the bat that were enough to get it thrown out before being seen by a judge.Once you get passed that, the structure and content of the case was between questionable at best and punishable at worst. Do your research and do basic internet search of any attorney you might hire first. I can't recommend this one based on my first hand experience with him. When it comes to affordable legal services for the average Joe Caveat Emptor, research is King.Internet searches truly are your friend with this subject of hiring attorneys.

Strong, intelligent & professional

Mr pope is a brilliant man with an extraordinary attention to detail! Professional mannerisms, determined and well organized. This man has the ability to pull exact dates and cases out of his mind from decades ago! He goes above & beyond and has by far, exceeded all expectations I've ever had for wha...t a lawyer is. This is my lawyer for life now.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2012.

Reprimand issued in WA, 2012

updated on 01/19/2013

This means the attorney did something wrong, but the Bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
