Was shocked at the final bill after paying a 5k retainer for a divorce that should have been half of that. My divorce was a non-contested. no kids, no joint accounts, no assets, etc....should have been simple process. In my consultation I was led to believe it would not exceed roughly 2500; which is... still too high. I have several friends who divorced at the same time, and they paid no more than 1500 for a non-contested simple divorce. I was shocked when I got my refund from the retainage.
