I have been an attorney for over 30 years, concentrating my practice almost exclusively on all aspects of family law and minor guardianships. A graduate of the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law, my roots in this area are deep and long standing.

Away from court and my law practice, I love spending time with my family and close knit circle of friends. I lead a very active lifestyle and certainly enjoy sports of all kinds. Recently retiring from coaching competitive girls fastpitch for 11 years taking teams all over the country to play in national tournaments including the Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City. Along those lines, I am an avid sports fan, and try to catch as many games as I can for the Seahawks, Huskies and Mariners.

I am committed to helping others and in 2011 was recognized with a Community Service Award for providing pro bono legal help to the less fortunate in Pierce County. Whatever the endeavor, whether it be personal or professional, I try to bring my passionate enthusiasm to any situation.

very happy w Raj! the company i work for recommended Raj. my first mtg w Raj in 2013 he did a good job of calming me down when my ex was leaving me and making me feel confident in my next steps. he did a great job of communicating with me via email which i preferred & phone calls. i was lucky t...hat my ex wife and i were able to agree on things out of court - and did the WA STATE online divorce process. Raj informed me that you really never want a judge to make the decisions on things. always a gamble. Raj helped me thru the process well. he has a great attitude. Raj helped me keep legal fees under control by keeping me out of court. Finally getting around to writing this review in 2018. i forgot to do it earlier. Now i am working w him to gain advice in other areas of family law. Thanks - Joe B

Raj Bains is a great Attorney, and I highly recommend him.

I came to Mr. Bains to help me with a custody case, I was very impressed with how very thorough and detailed he was about what needed to be done and what he was going to do to accomplish those things. Always honest and professional. In my opinion he went over and beyond what he was paid to do. I wa...s a young worried mother and he was always there to answer every question I had promptly and without annoyance. Years later I needed an attorney once again and there was no one besides Mr. Bains I would have trusted with my case. Once again he did not disappoint, his commitment and skills were the same as I remembered.

Highly recommended!

Raj represented me in a divorce action where custody of our two children (then age 7 and age 4) was a really big issue. He was very straightforward with me about the strengths and weaknesses of my case, as well as what my expectations should be in trial. I found it amazing that he had such good co...mmand of the facts of my particular case. Not only that he is very knowledgeable about the law. When my case went to court, I felt that our side was always prepared better and we were able to prove our case without any problems whatsoever. Even at the end of the trial, the judge complimented our side on our preparation. While it was a long process from start to finish, but I always felt that I was well informed about the case as we went through it. And if I ever had a question, all I had to do was call or send him an email, and Raj was always available to answer my questions and discuss the case with me. Since he represented me, I have recommended his office to my friends, and if I ever have any problems with the ex in the future, I know that I will be calling Raj right away.

A Great Attorney

Raj Bains represented me well. He understands and respects the sensitivity of divorce cases. He's tough but not overpowering, he only apply as much pressure as you, the client, want applied. Raj dosen't sugar coat anything and puts everything on the table as far as options. In trial he tore the oth...er attorney's case to pieces. Raj has experience working with military families. Raj has my highest recommendation.

Costs of Not Going To Trial

I had a divorce with a woman that tried every accusation in the book to deny me my custodial rights as a father. Raj did a good job during the motions fighting and arguing my points against these false accusations. The repeated motions and trips to the court room cost me some money but was well spe...nt to keep my rights as a father. My only issue with my ex was custody issues and I was told repeatedly by Raj that this was not a case that needed to go to trial. My problem is that $9000 (40% of my total costs) were rung up during the last two months of my case preparing for a trial that was never going to happen. Advice to anyone using this attorney or any other. If your goal is to settle, you need to do it well before (min 2 months) before your court case or you are going to get hit with a high amount of fees as the paperwork becomes due to the trial judge. I feel if I was informed or warned that a high amount of expenses are coming unless you and the ex settle then I could have used my money more wisely and I could and would recommend this attorney.
