also known as David W. Haskett, esq.
I am an experienced litigator and have spent hundreds of hours advocating on my clients' behalf in arbitrations, mediations, hearings, and trials. I pride myself on developing positive relationships with my clients and communicating with them in a straight-forward manner to explain complex legal concepts, provide them the tools necessary to obtain the best possible legal results for each case, and to guide them through all phases of civil proceedings. I also believe that it is beneficial to my clients for me to have positive working relationship with opposing counsel and to explore the collaborative approach to most legal disputes, as doing so almost always minimizes the emotional and financial costs involved in a legal proceeding and is beneficial for everyone involved.
Prior to co-founding Haskett Williams Law Group, I gained substantial experience representing clients from all walks of life in a variety of domestic relations cases and other civil matters. I have litigated civil legal issues in the state of Oregon, including, but not limited to dissolution proceedings with significant assets, third-party custody, third-party parenting time, spousal support modification, child support modifications, custody modifications, parenting time modification, contempt proceedings, stalking protective order proceedings, restraining order proceedings, guardianship proceedings, contractual disputes, collections matters, and more.
During law school, I worked as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Judge Jeffrey C. Manske at the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas – Waco Division, where I was involved in several criminal and civil proceedings and helped in the implementation of a cutting-edge alternative dispute resolution that was successfully used to resolve a substantial construction dispute (known as the “Baylor Jury Project”). During law school, I also worked as a legal extern at the in-house general counsel’s office at Tri-Met in Portland, Oregon, where I participated in numerous grievance arbitrations, assisted in the preparation of witnesses, researched legal strategies, and drafted legal memorandums, amongst other issues, and as a research assistant briefly for Buckley Law in Lake Oswego, Oregon.
I am an avid fan of the Arkansas Razorbacks and the New England Patriots. In addition to practicing law, I am passionate about learning, history, fitness, and the outdoors: I spend much of my time working out, boxing, practicing martial arts, walking my dogs (Guinness and Mars), hiking, fishing, floating, practicing marksmanship, playing musical instruments, and finding new ways to explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest. I also like to spend my time traveling, cooking, and creating new recipes, watching movies, writing, going to theatrical shows, binging television series, watching any form of football available to me, and reading.
