WJW is Amazing

I am shocked at how "Anna" rates Mr. West. I cannot imagine any of those things to be true. I was a client of Mr. West's for several years and I've referred a couple of my friends to him as well and have never heard any complaints from anyone. He is definitely knowledgeable and I was constantly im...pressed with his genius ideas and strategies on how to deal with the insurance companies. It sounds to me like "Anna" has a minimum policy of $25,000 and the truck that injured her likely had a minimum policy as well. That simply means that regardless of her medical bills, there was only a limited amount of coverage available to her. Additionally, health insurance companies have a right to be paid back so "Anna's" complaints are not actually about Mr. West's skills, they are about the laws surrounding personal injury claims in this area. This is actually a good lesson for people our there....make sure you have more than $25,000 of uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage!!!! This means that if you are injured by someone with a minimum policy (which is pretty much everyone!) then you will be able to get additional money from your own insurance company. Had Anna had this type of coverage, she would not be in the situation that she describes in her review. From the second I entered the office for my initial consultation I knew I wanted Mr. West to be my attorney. The office is beautiful, the staff is helpful, and he is so brilliant I honestly do not question any of his ideas or his intentions. I explained to him about my accident and how I got laid off from my job and he agreed to advance all costs to help me out. For several years I was coming in every couple of months to meet with him and there was no cost for any of that. He was able to get me a great settlement and he was pleasant to work with the entire time. The only complaint I would have is that he seems to be very busy and it does sometimes take a while to get in for an appointment or sometimes it would take him a day or so to get back to me. Generally, though, having a busy lawyer is a good thing! If the lawyer's work week isn't packed full of meetings with clients then they are probably doing something wrong! I was so thrilled with his representation and I think that his reputation in this town will speak for itself....if you ask anyone, whether it's judges, other attorneys, past clients, police offers, doctors, etc., what they think about Mr. West 99.999999999% of them will say he's a brilliant, wonderful person and he really knows what he's doing!

"Brains Aren't Everything."

Even though Warren West was referred to me by several people (I heard he could be a viper in court which I thought was good if he was on your side), I was extremely disappointed by his representation (or should I say, lack of representation). I was injured in an MVA where the semi-truck driver wa...s cited at fault, and I ended up eventually having over $400,000 in medical bills and was later recognized by the court (Social Security Disability) as being permanently disabled from multiple spinal injuries due to the accident. For years, Mr. West had me keep extensive records of all my lost work time, every doctor appointment, mileage to and from doctors appointments etc, - during which time both he and the opposing lawyer for the trucking company at fault kept postponing the trial numerous times. The delays only added to my duress especially with the mounting medical bills. Finally, after three years, he told me, "Yes of course we will win the case, but after I take my 40%, your medical insurance company will take the rest and you will be left with nothing, so there is no point in going to trial." This is after I had spent approx. $1,100 in court/legal fees, mind you. He said that we were going to settle for $15,000 and he was going to be so generous as to "only take 33%" while he said he convinced my insurance company to also settle for 33%, leaving me with the remaining $5,000 - which was actually $3,900 after expenses. I didn't understand why after 3 years he just decided to quit on me, as it was my impression that big companies who have many semi-trucks would be insured enough to cover situations such as mine; but I was devastated and beaten down with all the pain and suffering and had no more energy to fight for my rights, and he certainly wasn't making the effort to defend me. When I wrote him complaining about his service he belittled me. Oh yeah, he also talked down to me during several of our appointments, and only when my husband came in to defend me did he show him some intellectual respect. ( - and I am no dummy, I was always an honor student, even in college). I have since discovered two other women who had very similar experiences with him - both became permanently disabled like me, and yet were left with nothing after their trials.

Professional misconduct

This lawyer was disciplined by a state licensing authority in 2003.

Reprimand issued in OR, 2003

updated on 12/05/2009

This means the lawyer did something wrong but the bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
