Several years ago, I stipulated to a public reprimand by the Oregon State Bar.
I represented a homeowner's association against a former client. I had previously prepared a will for the former client when I was in association with another attorney several years before.
My client homeowner's association was successful against my former client, by summary judgment. Afterward, the former client complained to the bar association.
I stipulated to the facts and received a public reprimand. I have since served on the following committees for the Oregon State Bar: Judicial Administration Committee, 3 years; Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee, present member since 1/2010.

Total cases not calculated. Many of my recent cases challenged (or challenge) action by federal, state, county, and city government, primarily but not exclusively involving real property rights.

Total transactions unknown. Typically, I represent either the buyer or seller (never both), often to assist with earnest money and contract formation. I also assist in reviewing proposed closing instructions and security instruments to collateralize the balance of the purchase price. Occasionally, I will draft a land sale contract as a substitute for a trust deed, usually where the seller insists. I represent one party to the transaction only, never both.

This means the lawyer did something wrong but the bar did not suspend the lawyer. Typically in this case the lawyer's poor behavior is exposed to the public in hopes that he or she will not repeat the behavior.
