My first job out of college was as a claims adjuster for Liberty Mutual, where I met my wife now of 41 years.  After a few years as a workers compensation claims examiner and two sons later, I went to law school in the evening and worked during the day.  Three and half years later, I graduated, left Sedgwick CMS, where I was assistant VP of workers' compensation claims, and began a 30 year plus career of representing many of the largest employers in the Northwest.  I periodically made presentations at industry gatherings, and was hired as an expert witness in workers' compensation matters. 

In July 2014, a long time lawyer friend, Martin Alvey, called me about coming to work in his firm, one that represents injured workers, not employers!  I accepted the invitation, and I have never looked  back.  I immediately found that I felt really good about myself at the end of a long day.  I typically helped out a number of injured workers with little and big problems, all very serious for the injured worker. And, I usually do not make a dime. It was a big change from my years as an employers' attorney, as much of my time in that role was spent rectifying claim processing blunders, but getting paid for every bit of time  for which I cared to actually send out a bill. 

Before I joined the Alvey Law Group, I spent my free time with my grandchildren, always had a home remodeling project going, farmed ten acres of wine grapes, and rode my motorcycles.  My now grown sons also took up with their own motorcycles.  One son is a police officer and the other one shares piloting duties with me on a motorcycle we campaign at Bonneville Salt Flats in late August each year we can make it.  Shooting for 200 plus MPH, but only 187 so far.  Since joining the Alvey Law Group, I have not had much free time.

Because of my policeman son, I have taken a particular interest in assisting and representing injured public safety workers, our first responders.
