I am  primarily a transactional tax lawyer.  I graduated from Lewis & Clark Law School, and went on to do another year at New York University where I earned a specialty degree in taxation.  For six years I was in private practice with a large Portland law firm, and in 1986 went to work in-house at PGE where I stayed for 19 years. While at PGE I represented PGE and its affiliated companies (which included its parent Enron) in matters such as finance, taxation, ERISA, compensation, human resources, bankruptcy and power plant development.  After closing out critical matters for PGE arising from the Enron bankruptcy I retired from the electric company and “hung out my shingle” in 2006 to represent energy clients, as well as individuals in business, taxation, estate planning and ERISA matters. 

I find that my practice has increasingly focused on drafting and administering wills and trusts, planning for community property for California transplants, and succession planning for retirement benefits such as IRAs and 401Ks for minors and special needs children and grandchildren.  I continue to represent corporations and LLCs in business, tax and succession matters and handle real estate transactions that arise in the course of the rest of my practice.

I have been a panel attorney for Hyatt Legal Services for several years and my volume of clients allows me to quote fixed fees for most routine legal services such as disclaimer wills, powers of attorney, Oregon Advance Directives for health care, revocable living trusts, joint revocable living trusts for married couples;  community property agreements for new Oregon residents; and forming LLCs and corporations.
